Unit of Study: TODO SOBRE MÍ (ALL ABOUT ME)
September Update Welcome to a full day! In Kindergarten we are learning how to introduce ourselves to others and ask for someone’s name! Practice saying, "¡Hola! Me llamo ______." Then ask someone for their name by saying, "y tú, ¿cómo te llamas? October Update Kindergarten students have done an exceptional job in learning how to introduce themselves to others and explain how they are feeling (muy bien, mal, or cansado). Students are now working on learning how to say and represent the numbers 1-10 in Spanish and answer the question, “How old are you?¿Cuántos años tienes?” November Update Kindergarten has started a new unit on Numbers! We have started learning how to say the numbers 1-10. December Update Kindergarten is busy learning how to say and represent numbers 1-10 in Spanish! Students have learned the song, “Cuentan conmigo” (Count with Me) and are busy completing their books “Los números 1-10” where they are practice writing the numbers in both word and number form and are representing each quantity on a ten frame! January Update Students are now working towards identifying quantities of objects in Spanish that are not in order! They are writing the numbers in both word and number form and are representing each quantity on a ten frame! September Update
Ever wonder how to express what you like or do not like in Spanish? Third graders are doing just so by exploring the many uses and rules of the verb Gustar! October Update Third grade has finished their unit on the verb Gustar and is beginning to learn all about cognates and discovering how much Spanish they inherently know! November Update Third and fourth graders are sharpening their conversation skills by putting together conversations and practicing acting them out. December Update Students are still mastering how to initiate conversations with others and asking different questions to get to know a person. January Update In third grade we are differentiating between the informal you "tú" and the formal you "usted." Students are learning when it is appropriate to use one verse the other. |
September Update First graders are extending their knowledge on how to initiate conversation and diving into greetings! Depending on the time of day they may say, Buenos días, Buenas tardes, or Buenas noches! October Update First grade students are continuing to learn how to facilitate a conversation with someone by asking how they are feeling and describing how they themselves are feeling with various responses such as happy, sad, tired, sick, excited, afraid and surprised. November Update First grade students are coming to the end of their unit on feelings and have been working on their feelings flip-book. December Update To wrap up their feelings unit, first graders have completed their flip book, ¿Cómo estás? and are now in the process of taking their first verbal assessment. January Update In first grade we are reviewing the numbers students already know how to say and Spanish (0-10) and practicing different ways to represent the number: number bonds, pictures, and base ten blocks |
September Update Second grade has cruised past greetings and is now focusing on expressing how they feel. Ask your child, “¿Cómo estás?" (How are you?) and listen to his/her answer using the sentence starter "Estoy..." (I am...) October Update First grade students are continuing to learn how to facilitate a conversation with someone by asking how they are feeling and describing how they themselves are feeling with various responses such as happy, sad, tired, sick, excited, afraid and surprised. November Update Second graders culminated their unit by learning a song to describe different feelings they’ve learned and activities they want to do. For example, I am tired and would like to sleep (Yo estoy cansado (a) y quiero dormir) December Update In second grade students are reviewing the numbers they already know how to say and Spanish (0-20) and practicing different ways to represent the number with number bonds, pictures, and base ten blocks. Students will extend their knowledge to saying and representing numbers 0-30. January Update Children are extending their knowledge to saying and representing numbers 0-30 and representing those numbers in various ways (number bonds, pictures, and base ten blocks). They are working on Number Projects that honor Martin Luther King Jr. such as the activity, Counting on Peace. September Update
Fourth graders have just finished publishing a book entitled “Todo acerca de mi” and now are enjoying their time learning about adjectives to describe themselves while meeting other people! They are also making connections to what they already know by identifying cognates! October Update Our fourth graders have already learned how to describe themselves using the sentence starter, “Yo soy” and are now extending that knowledge in conversation by conducting partner interview where there task is describe themselves to another person and ask that person what he/she is like. November Update Third and fourth graders are sharpening their conversation skills by putting together conversations and practicing acting them out. December Update In fourth grade students are working in partners to discover just how to use the classroom to really develop their vocabulary and complete given tasks. January Update Students are working on piecing together conversations from a word bank, discussing what it means to be a fluent reader and acting out dialogues in class. |
